Nominee: Michael Baker Jr., Inc.

Summary of submission: Baker is a corporate member of PAEP, multi-year sponsor of the PAEP annual conference, volunteer in its office communities throughout PA, and has incorprated sustainable practices in its office operations as well as project design. Examples of activities include: various park cleanups and maintenance; rain garden plantings; environmental education activities in community and within local offices; corporate and local green teams; recycling and sustainable programs and initiatives; and sustainable projects such as transit, rail, FEMA climate change, air quality modeling, and sustainable transportation. As evidenced by our voluntary practices and project designs, Baker is committed to the mission of PAEP by providing environmental education, planning, management, and innovative and sustainable design solutions. Baker continues to promote the importance of environmental awareness by providing continuing employee training, creating a sustainable working environment, and contributing to the field of environmental science. Our commitment to our mission statement of “Creating value by delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for infrastructure and the environment”, through application of our key values such as integrity, quality, communication, safety, commitment, and teamwork, makes Baker an ideal candidate for the PAEP 2010 Corporate Member of the Year Award.


Nominee: Skelly & Loy, Inc.

Summary of submission: Skelly & Loy is a corporate member of PAEP, multi-year sponsor of the PAEP annual conference, volunteer in the community, dedicated to environmental training and projects. In addition to seeing that all of its employees are on the cutting edge of science and technology in providing environmental services, Skelly and Loy also lends its expertise by providing training to clients, regulatory agencies, and other partnering consulting firms. Skelly and Loy and its core business of providing sustainable engineering and environmental solutions to the challenges facing our clients each day is perfectly aligned with the goals of the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals of promoting environmental education, research, planning, assessment, review, and management. In addition, Skelly and Loy offers environmental sustainability services in the following areas: Green Energy, Sustainable Stormwater Management, Sustainable Wastewater, Recycling/Beneficial Reuse, and Green Remediation. But Skelly and Loy knows that its social responsibility extends far beyond completing successful and sustainable projects.
