First-Responders Identify Chemicals - The National
Library of Medicine has created open source software to
help first responders when they arrive at a hazardous
materials incident. The Wireless Information System for
Emergency Responders (WISER) is a system designed to
assist first responders in hazardous material incidents.
WISER provides a wide range of information on hazardous
substances, including substance identification support,
physical characteristics, human health information, and
containment and suppression advice. There is a free
operational version of WISER for Windows®, Palm OS, and
Pocket PC available at

Northwest Food Processors Association
(NWFPA) - Organized in 1914 as a canners
association, the Northwest Food Processors Association (NWFPA)
represents the interests of food processors in Idaho,
Oregon and Washington. NWFPA is headquartered in
Portland, Oregon and has more than 450 member companies
including 86 food processors with nearly 200 production
facilities throughout the Northwest region. Membership
is primarily fruit and vegetable processors but has
expanded over the past several years to include seafood,
dairy, bakeries, specialty and fresh-cut.
