Integrating Climate Change into Design & Decision-Making: A Journey in the Transformation of Building Individual and Institutional Capacity

Tuesday, June 18, 2024

at 12:00 (Noon) Eastern

For decades, climate scientists worldwide have sounded repeated alarms warning humanity of the implications of humanity’s intensification of greenhouse gas emissions driving substantial warming of our atmosphere from pre-industrial levels.  Despite these warnings, global emissions have continued to increase year over year.  In 2023, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) called for the unprecedented transformation of society to tackle the challenges that climate change poses to humanity’s health, security and economic vitality.

Despite massive advances in energy technology, industrial processes and efficiencies across most economic sectors, society has not figured out the answer to accomplishing the reductions called for by the climate science community.  But the impacts of a warming planet and a changing planet are already being felt — more volatility in our climate system, rising sea levels and ecosystem impacts.

Join us for a discussion on pursuing the unprecedented transformation of how to design, finance, build and sustain featuring Daniel Kreeger, executive director and co-founder of the Association of Climate Change Officers.

Presenter: Daniel Kreeger is co-founder and executive director of the Association of Climate Change Officers (ACCO) and has a unique familiarity of climate change and sustainability initiatives being undertaken across the public and private sectors.  Dan has led ACCO’s programming efforts since 2008, as well as the establishment of its certification and training programs, and the direction of extensive research projects on the climate change field of practice.

Dan is a recognized expert on institutionalizing climate change into decision-making in the public and private sectors.  He serves on the board of the Global Electronics Council, which manages the EPEAT program, and the Dean’s Advisory Board for the FIU College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts.  He has been a reviewer for the IPCC and numerous Federal agency grant committees and is a frequent lecturer and TV news commentator on climate change policy and practice.
