Standards of Ethical Conduct

An Environmental Professional will:
  • Conduct research, planning, design, management, and review activities in a scientific and technically objective manner.
  • Employ the best principles of environmental science for the protection of environmental resources, enhancement of environmental quality, and the mitigation of environmental harm.
  • Avoid all professional relationships or actions which could be interpreted as a conflict of interest by clients, public officials, or peers, and, in any instance where financial or personal interests exist, voluntarily make full disclosure to all affected parties.
  • Not accept fees contingent on a client's desired result where that result conflicts with professional judgment.
